MOISTURETRANSMISSION RATE TESTER

Inverted MVTR Tester GINTRONIC IDC-6

Zur Bestimmung der Wasserdampfdurchlässigkeit von Geweben, Folien, Filmen und anderen flächigen Materialien auf der Grundlage der inverted drycup Methode.

The JIS L1099 B1 + B2 is one of the most common standards for measuring the Moisture Vapour Trans-mission Rate of fabrics and textiles, used for  outdoor and sport activities.

As JIS L1099 B1+B2 requires a water bath with 23°C in a room with 30°C, GINTRONIC IDC-6 is the ideal all in one solution for this test.

GINTRONIC IDC-6 is offering for this a state of theart tester, with automatic temperature control of the waterbath AND the temperature in the test chamber.

With the IDC-6 you can measure 6 samples at the same time.

Measuring Methods

GINTRONIC IDC-6 supports JIS L1099 method B1+ B2 and optional ISO 15496 by using test assemblies with other dimensions. The difference between B1 and B2 method is, that the sample in B2 method is covered by an additional PTFE membrane. This is necessary, when the sample is not impermeable against water.

METHOD B2  (ISO 15496)

Measuring

The sample is attached to a sample holder and placed in a waterbath. The measuring cup is filled with a saturaded potassium acetate solution and sealed with a PTFE membrane.

The measuring cups are placed on the sample for 15 minutes. The moisture vapor which is passing the sample is captured by the measuring cup. Weighing this weight gain gives directly the MVTR in g/d/m².
